From the first to last word I was riveted by this book! It reminded me of the old movie Exorcist but there was more to the story.. This was way better and very imaginative with the way the demon thinks and schemes. It's not just about possession here folks! These demons have a bigger plan than that! So when you're Mike Evans and you've written it all from zombies to contract killers and your fans still want more, what do you do? You one up yourself. In Demons Beware ancient Evil is stalking the streets of Boston and it's after our children, after all, the children are the future, right? It's up to a couple of priests and a strong and faithful family to battle this threat to our lives and our very souls, and battle they do. I was blown away by this first installment in a new Mike Evans series, and although this book had a definite conclusion, we all know that true Evil never really rests. Neither does Good. Demons Beware, we are waiting.
Everything about this story is excellent. The editing, depth of the characters, wild imagination, suspense and cerebral creepiness is top notch. In the beginning, as the story slowly builds, it feels very Exorcist like but it isn't long before that train goes off the track and you find there is a whole lot more going on here. A great read that will keep you turning the pages late into the night sure to please!
Absolutely loved this book from Mike Evans. As one reviewer mentioned, do not read this in the dark. I caught myself looking over my shoulder a few times. Get it, you'll love it!
Evil has been around as long as the world has been revolving and in Demons Beware, it is getting stronger and attempting to overcome all that is good and bring it over to its side. One family is chosen to offer their youngest as the vessel for the evilest of all…the Devil. The ensuing story is filled with a true test of faith. Faith that must stay strong among those who are tested and brought in to fight together. This was an amazingly written story with characters that were well developed and brought to life through the vivid imagination of this author. The story’s pace is fast and furious as the demons stake their claim and fight for more control. This is an edge of your seat…hold on to your hat…holy crap story that will have you reading faster and faster to see what happens next and to see who wins and who loses in this war. Mike Evans has another hit on his hands with this story and I am looking forward to the next book in this series! I definitely recommend this to everyone who loves a really good story.
I love a scary story and a group of characters I can care about. With this book you get the devil and daemons and all of the above. You'll get your heart broken because you won't be able to help but fall in love with the characters and you WILL be scared. But you won't be bored and you will be wanting to read everything this author has ever written! Because he always always leaves you excited for anything else he writes especially the next book in his series whether it's this one or any of his other amazing series that he writes. If you're going to read this one make sure you're ready for Things That Go Bump in the night and the hair on the back your neck to stand up because it is a good scary read and you won't be sorry because at times it might even leave you a little Breathless with fear. This is a book and an author no one wants to miss!
I am putting a disclaimer out there right now , don't read this book in the dark or before you go to bed .
Evil has been around since the beginning of time and has been getting stronger and stronger. Now it has found its way to a family who's youngest son is chosen to be the one who brings the evil to this side . The evil is preying on the young and our main character , five year old Tony is caught in the middle . Will the young priest save them all or will he be too late to save them all
This book has so many great characters . There are the true evil characters and the ones who hide their evilness behind the liquor and abuse . Tony is one of the central characters he is a sweet little boy who has had it hard in his first 5 yrs of life . You just want to wrap him in a blanket and hug him tight . Billy is his big brother who will do anything to keep his little family together and safe. He is a good kid that is an alter boy in church along with his friend James . They are great kids and want to do good for their families. I really liked these two characters you see them from two different backgrounds but are the best of friends and you can see their friendship all the way through the story.
The rest of the cast of characters are so well written and you will cheer for them all the way through the book .
When you read this book be prepared to be on the edge of the seat and cowering under a blanket .
Mike has a way of writing creepy in such a way that you will get totally enthralled . As you turn each page it gets eerier and eerier . You can almost feel the goose bumps forming and the hairs on your arms standing up on end . I was hooked on the first page and I couldn't put it down until I knew they were safe . I didn't even realize at one point I was holding my breath until I let it go . I can't wait till his next book comes out . They are getting better and better with every book I read . So if you want a book that will keep you up at night and maybe give you a nightmare or two . Check out DEMONS BEWARE by Mike Evans .
When you are sitting on your couch in your living room in the dark, the only light in the room is that illuminating from your laptop. You are reading this book.... at first Mr. Evans just grabs your heart and crushes it because you hurt for some of the characters in the book. Then you continue to read on and things get a little creepy but you're a big girl so you got this. Then as you continue you get a little more spooked with each word. You start to hear the little noises around you in the dark that you never paid attention to before. The hair on the back of your neck start to stand on end and you have to force yourself to get up and turn on the lights because that is the only way your heart rate may return to normal. I absolutely loved this book but it did give me the creeps!!! Defiantly worth the read!!
