Can't Quit? Bullsh*t! You Can Stop Smoking Richard Brunswick MD Elena BetkeBrunswick Hans Teensma 9780988437203 Books Reviews
As a practicing psychotherapist, I have recommended "Can't Quit?" to many of my patients. I appreciate its no-nonsense, non-judgmental approach to smoking cessation combined with its astute appreciation for the social and emotional challenges of quitting. The book is frank about the difficulties of stopping, yet supportive. Strongly recommended!
This is a great, easy-to-read and understand approach to quitting. You'll learn how to stop sabotaging yourself---both physically with the cigarettes and mentally with believing that you cannot change your life. Even if you have tried to quit before, you'll learn new approaches and figure out how to avoid falling off the wagon again.
This accessible straightforward book doesn't blame the smoker for their addiction. Most smokers want to stop and most have tried more than once.
As a family physician working with people thinking about quitting or trying to quit, I believe Dr. Richard Brunswick's book offers sound stepwise strategies to help those who are contemplating quitting; those who are ready to quit; and those who have quit but need strategies to prevent relapse.
For those who can't quit he offers a model based on harm reduction and the use of nicotine replacement therapy (NRT.) The book is cheaper than a couple of packs of cigarettes and may well help those who have quit before to finally become non-smokers.
This book is an easy read and full of engaging content, practical advice, and inspiration to quit smoking.
It shows myths about smoking and then the truth. For instance, False A cigarette is a reward. True A cigarette is poison.
Dr. Brunswick offers a wide range of ideas--something to fit everyone who wants to quit. He tells us how to think about withdrawal, provides ten steps for quitting, and gives hope for those who have tried to quit before.
His voice is friendly and compassionate from the very first page "You are not the problem. Addiction is the problem."
I have recently watched older friends become debilitated and then die of smoking related causes emphyzema, heart disease and lung cancer. This book should help people stop smoking.
Nothing new here, interesting stories and thoughts. In the end, one simply has to make the decision to stop smoking and stick to it.
Has some conflicting information, it more seems like the doctors opinion than anything backed up by proof. I liked Allen Carrs 'The easy way to quit smoking' better. It 'clicked' and made more sense.
DR. Brunswick has found the simple way to help millions quit, I'm one. A great tool to kick the habit.
According to my daughter, this has short, quick nuggets of inspiration and help. Just the edge that she needed to aquire the determination and inspiration to finally quit smoking.
